The Program
Thirty-seven individuals will be chosen from the greater Savannah area to engage in a one-year commitment to improve their leadership skills so that they can improve their community. To improve learning opportunities and build stronger relationships, the 37 participants will be assigned to a cohort group.
Each cohort will work with an established community leader who will serve as a mentor throughout the Leadership Savannah Program. Cohort groups may be asked to coordinate some of the monthly learning opportunities.
By the end of the one year program, the participants should have:
- A better understanding of themselves and their individual leadership styles;
- Improved leaderships skills;
- Deeper knowledge of the Savannah community and how it fits in the regional, state, national, and global economy;
- Identified the major challenges facing Savannah;
- Built relationships with other class members and existing community leaders;
- Used their leadership skills to provide service to Step Up, Savannah’s Anti-poverty Initiative (www.stepupsavannah.org) or another community challenge;
- Developed a deep commitment to making the Savannah community a better place to live and work.
